The serial number is 004202. I'm not sure what year this would of been made. I do some larger machine work at times, so I'll have to decide if the Atlas is going to fit my needs, or if I'd be better off with a more commercial size machine. I have a MFC model. It has the belt guards but does not have the guard over the arbor support.

Well, I went and took a look at that mill this morning. It's an MF model. Fairly low serial number (002828). Appears to be complete, but the table has two damaged areas in the center T-slot. The arbor and arbor support arm are taken off, as is the motor. It comes with two arbors, maybe half a dozen cutting tools.

I have been unable to turn up an actual MF or MFA manual. Earliest found is one for the MFB. The latest (parts only) manual on all four does give the serial number breaks between models. MFA is 001345-005465. To add to what Earl wrote, the MFA also didn't ship with belt guard. Those became standard with the MFB.

The MFB apparently came out in 1944, so the 1943 manual would have been the final one done on the MFA (and M1A and MHA).
